Amid the sun-kissed hills and gentle breezes of our land, we safeguard a heritage that speaks of roots, history, and passion: the indigenous grape varieties of Tenute Caracci. These are not just vines but silent witnesses of a tradition passed down through generations — a hidden wealth that deserves to be rediscovered and celebrated.
A Heritage That Tells the Story of the Land
When we speak of indigenous grape varieties, we refer to those that originated and developed spontaneously in a specific area, adapting to its climate, soil, and environmental characteristics. These grapes represent the true identity of a place, its agricultural memory, its biodiversity.
In a world where the wine market is often dominated by international grape varieties, preserving and enhancing local ones means safeguarding a unique cultural and environmental heritage.
At Tenute Caracci, we have chosen to protect and cultivate this uniqueness, dedicating much of our land to the native vines of our region. This is not just out of respect for those who came before us, but also because we believe the future of wine lies in rediscovering its origins.
Our Indigenous Grapes: A Journey Through Authentic Flavors and Aromas
Nero di Caracci
An ancient and rare variety that takes its name from our very estate. Nero di Caracci is a black grape with unique characteristics: compact clusters, small berries, and concentrated flavors. It gives life to an intense wine with notes of ripe wild berries, sweet spices, and a subtle mineral touch that reflects our soil. On the palate, it is elegant, enveloping, with soft tannins and a long, persistent finish.
Bianco di Venere
A white grape variety rediscovered almost by chance among the oldest vines on our estate. Bianco di Venere is delicate, with loose clusters and golden berries. It produces a fresh, floral wine with aromas of white flowers, citrus, and almond. Perfect as an aperitif or paired with fish dishes, it expresses its best personality after resting for a few months in the bottle.
Carricante Antico
Among the most precious of our indigenous varieties, Carricante Antico is an agricultural heritage of extraordinary value. It is a resistant grape, capable of fully expressing the minerality of the soil and the influence of the local microclimate. The resulting wines are sapid, fresh, with marked acidity and scents of broom, white peach, and aromatic herbs.
Daily Work Between Tradition and Innovation
Protecting these grape varieties also means committing every day to careful, respectful work. At Tenute Caracci, we use sustainable agricultural practices, minimizing chemical treatments and encouraging biodiversity in our environment. Each vine is tended by hand, following nature’s rhythms and the knowledge passed down from our grandparents.
Vinification is carried out in a way that respects the raw material, highlighting the characteristics of each variety. We use spontaneous fermentations, low yields per hectare, and slow aging processes to allow the wine to fully express the character of our terroir.
A Treasure Waiting to Be Discovered
Choosing a wine made from indigenous grape varieties is not just about enjoying a quality glass — it is about embarking on a sensory and cultural journey. It is a way to connect with the soul of a place, to rediscover authentic flavors that might otherwise be forgotten.
At Tenute Caracci, we believe that every bottle tells a story — a bridge between past and future. We invite everyone to visit our estate, walk through the rows of vines, get to know our grape varieties up close, and be captivated by the aromas and flavors born from this land.
Our indigenous grape varieties are a treasure we have chosen to protect and share. A treasure waiting to be discovered, one glass at a time.
